Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. I.Khalilova / Yurii Shedrin, the trade representative of the Russian Federation in Azerbaijan, stated on 16 August that the KAMAZ company, with its new distributor 'KAMAZ - tijarat shirkati' (trade company) is not awaiting the decision of the Azerbaijani Government on creating joint assembling. Shedrin expressed doubt in the resolving of the issue by the end of 2007. The leadership of the KAMAZ company submitted a proposal to Azerbaijan in 2006 regarding its preference on taxes, tariffs on energy, and many other privileges.
Ilham Ahmadov, the head of the Kamaz-tijarat shirkati, founded in April 2006, stated that some 350 KAMAZ automobiles were delivered to Azerbaijan in 2007. The annual automobile requirement of Azerbaijan is 600 or 700, which is delivered to the country in monthly increments of fifty automobiles at a time.
Besides delivery of finished commodities, the KAMAZ company achieved an agreement on supplying bus chassis. Negotiations on the issue are being held with the machinery plant after the name of Sardarov and AzMOTORS Co Ltd.
The Azerbaijani company of AzMOTORS Co Ltd was an official dealer of KAMAZ and organized the production and sale of KAMAZ automobiles in Azerbaijan. Some 250 automobiles have been sold.
