Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr S. Aliyev / The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) and ВР Azerbaijan failed to agree upon volume of associated gas supply to Azerbaijan for 2008, which is produced in Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli fields (operated by ВР), a source at the Government said on 31 October.

Azerbaijan intended to receive some 8mln cu m of gas per 24 hours in 2008, but ВР Azerbaijan insists on supplying only between 3 to 4mln cu m, the source said.

Presently ВР supplies some 3.5 to 4mln cu m of associated gas per 24 hours to Azerbaijan, but previously it was 7-8mln cu m.

Decrease in associated gas supply was caused by increase in gas pumping to layers. It was increased from 13-14mln cu m of gas per 24 hours to 18mln cu m.

Since the beginning of the year the associated gas produced from the platforms of Central Azeri, Western Azeri and Eastern Azeri has been transported to Sangachal terminal via 28-inch pipeline and further to the internal market via national gas network of Azerigaz JSC. As previous, part of associated gas produced with Chirag Platform is directed to the compressor station of the SOCAR in Neft Dashlari ('Oil Stones') via 16-inch pipeline.

The remaining part of the associated gas produced with ACG platform is transported to the compressor and water-discharge platform for pumping it into underground layers for supporting the pressure.
