SOCAR’s Drilling Department to Drill 13 Offshore Production Wells

Azerbaijan, Baku, 18 April / Trend corr E. Ismayilov/ "The Bayil Limani offshore drilling department of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan intends to commence drilling of 19 production wells to put into operation 13 of them within a year," Orkhan Salimkhanov, chief engineer of the department, stated on 18 April.

Nine of the 19 wells will be drilled in the Gunashli field, 6 in the Oil Rocks and 4 in the Alat Deniz.

At present, Bayil Limani is carrying out drilling work in the following platforms: Alat Daniz-23 - budgeted depth 3,650m (3,225m drilled); Alat Daniz-60 - budgeted depth 3,870m (3,335m drilled); Gunashli-8 - budgeted depth 2,850m (2,500m drilled); Gunashli-14 - budgeted depth 3,750m (1,100m drilled); Gunashli-15 - budgeted depth 3,950m (1,800m drilled); Oil Rocks-1887 - budgeted depth 2,870m (1,900m drilled). All are production wells.

Gunashli-19 platform is being currently repaired and drilling of a new well from it will be commenced in a month.

"The drilling department plans to drill over 36,000m this year, and over 14,000m has already been drilled," Salimkhanov said.
