Baku Hosts Meeting of European Energy Charter’s Industry Deliberative Group

Azerbaijan, Baku, 13 June / Trend / On 12 June, for the first time beyond Brussels Baku hosted meeting of an industry deliberative group of the European Energy Charter. The meeting was presided over by the chairman of the deliberative group, ВР's Director European Government Affairs Howard Chase.

State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR), Turkish Botas company and Russia's RAO UES of Russia made presentations at the meeting. Participants visited the largest oil and gas terminal in the region - Sangachal.

European Energy Charter was signed on 17 December 1991. The European Charter agreement and Charter's protocol on energy effectiveness and environmental affairs were signed in Lisbon on 17 December and took force in April 1998.

Energy Charter's power covers only energy issues and is intended to develop and improve the legislative basis in the field, as well as to change energy field and to deal with energy policy.
