Turkish state pipeline company Botas imported from Azerbaijan more than 4.2bln
cu m of gas in January to November 2008, which is up 2.95bln cu m than in the
entire 2007, the company said in a message placed on its official website.
Azerbaijan exports gas produced from offshore Shah Deniz field to Turkey via the South Caucasus pipeline.
In January to November, Botas imported to Turkey from various sources about
34.6bln cu m of gas, against 36.5bln cu m for the entire 2007. From Russia the company imported more than 21.3bln cu m of gas, against more than 23.1bln cu m
for the entire last year. From Iran Turkey imported about 3.7bln cu m of gas,
against about 6.2bln in January to December, 2007.
In January-November, from Algeria and Nigeria Turkey imported about 4.9bln cu m
of gas and 399mln cu m of liquefied natural gas respectively.
The contract on development of off-shore Shah Deniz field was signed on 4 June 1996. Shah Deniz participating interests are: ВР (operator - 25.5%), StatoilHydro (25.5%), SOCAR (10%), LukAgip (10%), NICO (10%), Total (10%), and TPAO (9%).
