Azerbaijan calls on Iran to cooperate in oil-and-gas industry.
Possible cooperation between Azerbaijan and Iran in oil-and-gas and energy industries may be beneficial to both countries, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov said at a meeting with his Iranian counterpart Manouchehr Mottaki on Feb. 19.
The use of oil-and-gas resources of the Caspian Sea plays an important role in ensuring international energy security, said Mammadyarov.
The Ministers met as part of the 7th meeting of the Azerbaijan-Iran joint commission on economic cooperation.
The meeting involved ministers and heads of various departments of the two countries, who are members of the joint commission.
Documents, mainly in economic sphere, are expected to be signed between the two countries as a result of the meeting.
Trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Iran hit $452.874 million in 2008.
