Thirty-seven contracts on using natural resources were annulled in Kazakhstan in 2008, Kazakh Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Sauat Mynbaev said.
"Last year 37 contracts were annulled due to the non-fulfillment of obligations," Mynbaev said.
Roughly 80 percent of the country's natural resource users honor their liabilities, he added.
"Presently, 900 contracts are being monitored," the minister said.
In 2007, the government took steps against natural resources users that do not fulfill the terms of their contracts.
"The ministry initiated the Law on the Earth and Using Natural Resources. The parliament is reviewing the document," Mynbaev said.
