At present, SOCAR (State Oil Company of Azerbaijan) pumps about 10,000 tons of the Azerbaijani oil per day via the Baku-Novorossiysk, a source in the oil and gas market said today. In November, the pipeline will transport 240,000 tons of the Azerbaijani oil.

On Nov.19, transportation of the Azerbaijani oil via this pipeline will be suspended for eight hours to carry out the planned technical work.

On Nov.6, transportation of the Azerbaijani oil via this pipeline was suspended for two and half hour upon Russia's request, the source added.

According to the target, oil transportation scheduled for November will finish by Nov.26, the source said.

In 2009, SOCAR intends to increase oil export via the Baku-Novorossiysk pipeline to 2.5 million tons compared roughly 1.3 millions tons in 2008.

SOCAR ships its oil and oil of the joint ventures and operating companies via the Novorossiysk port. In January-October, SOCAR exported over 2 million tons of oil via the Baku-Novorossiysk pipeline compared to about 1 million in the same period of 2008.

Today, via the Baku - Novorossiysk oil pipeline, Azerbaijan receives (at the port of Novorossiysk) Urals brand oil because of mixing with other oil producers.

The operator of the Baku-Novorossiysk was the Azerbaijan International Operating Company until the end of 2007. The SOCAR began to operate the pipeline since 2007.
