The Third Astana Economic Forum opened at Kazakhstan's Independence Palace July 1. The forum is devoted to sustainable economic growth in the post-crisis period.
This year's annual economic forum is attended by over 2,000 political and business leaders from more than 50 countries who have gathered to discuss key global economic issues. Leading scientists and civil society and media representatives are also in attendance.
Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev, Nobel Prize winners Finn Kydland and Robert Aumann, OSCE Secretary General Marc Perrin de Brichambaut, U.N. Economic Commission for Europe Executive Secretary Jan Kubis, former Canadian Prime Minister Jean Chretien and European Investment Bank President Philippe Maystadt are also attending the forum.
The two-day program activities is devoted to innovation, business, industry, international trade, export and import, the customs union, energy, environment, international financial and monetary system, Islamic finance and youth.
