The pace of development at the South Yoloten-Osman Field is increasing, Turkmen President Gurbangulu Berdimuhammedov said today on Oil and Gas Industry Geology Worker's Day.
"It is gratifying that Turkmen geologists have confirmed the existence of more than 21 trillion cubic meters of gas in this gigantic natural storehouse," he said.
The Chinese CNPC Chuanqing Drilling Engineering Company, Petrofac International and UAE Gulf Oil and Gas FZE, as well as LG International and Hyundai Engineering, are engaged in commercial gas development at the field under service terms worth $9.7 billion.
Berdimuhammedov named as indicators of the "tireless work of the country's brave oil and gas industry workers" the commissioning of complex facilities for the collection, preparation and transportation of gas from the Keimir, Akpatlavuk and Chekishler fields, the development of the complex fields of Central Karakum and the commissioning of the Zyakli-Darvaza-Yilanly gas pipeline installation, as well as the opening of the Bagtyyarlyk gas compressor installation.
Turkmenistan is carrying out large-scale measures to diversify Turkmen natural gas export routes to world markets in accordance with its new energy strategy.
The country commissioned a pipeline from Turkmenistan to China on Dec .14, 2009.
The commissioning of the second branch of the Turkmenistan-Iran pipeline and the acceleration of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India gas pipeline project are strongly supported by the state.
