Official: Iran's oil and gas reserves increase

The newly discovered oil and gas fields in Iran point to the increase in the country's hydrocarbon reserves, Mehr News Agency reported quoting Deputy Oil Minister Mohsen Khojaste as saying.

"According to the latest studies in the National Iranian Oil Company, the country's natural gas reserves amount to 33.1 trillion cubic meters while oil reserves hit 155 billion barrels of oil," he said.

The Oil Ministry will announce the details of hydrocarbon reserves in the second half of current solar year (started on March 20, 2011).

The National Iranian Oil Company has recently discovered big oil and gas reserves in Assaloyeh which will increase Iran's oil and gas reserves.

The Director of ExplorationAffairs of the National Iranian Oil Company Mahmoud Mohades announced about possible discovering the new oil and gas fields in Persian Gulf.

The Iranian Central Oil Fields Co said earlier that it will develop 13 newly discovered independent oilfields and plans to produce 372,000 barrels of crude oil and 407 million cubic meters natural gas per day

Iran has OPEC's second-highest oil output, and ranks second in the world in terms of natural gas reserves after Russia.
