Iran ready to start oil production in Caspian Sea

The National Iranian Oil Company supports all activities to start oil and gas production in Iranian sector of the Caspian Sea by companies, SHANA reported quoting Managing Director of National Iranian Oil Company Ahmad Ghalebani as saying.

"The Neka region has necessary equipment to start operations and more the oil and gas projects are developed the more facilities are mobilized," he said.

Oil and gas production from the Caspian Sea is our major goal and if the project succeeds the NIOC will provide more drilling rigs, he added.

Managing Director of Iranian Offshore Oil Company said earlier there are good capacities for Iran to transit gas, as well as oil swap in Caspian Sea and Persian Gulf.

The Caspian Sea holds 17-33 billion barrels of oil, and is estimated to give as much as 8,000 billion cubic meters of gas.
