Azar and Changooleh oilfields, located at Iran's western border province of Ilam, said that the fields hold around 6.1 billion barrels of reserve.
In the first phase production from the two oilfields is estimated at 130,000 barrels of oil and 7.5 million cubic meters of gas per day, Mohammad Niyazi told the Fars news agency.
The National Iranian Oil Company said on October 15 that it abandoned the plan to develop the Azar field jointly with Gazprom Neft, saying the Russian company showed a lack of interest. On October 11, the Iranian state oil company signed a $1.9 billion deal for Azar with a consortium of Iranian firms to replace Gazprom Neft.
