Implementation of Lukoil’s Arai social programme discussed in Kazakh Aktobe

On Tuesday Aktobe hosted a press conference on the implementation of the Program of Social Partnership Arai in the Aktobe region.
The press conference was attended by deputy mayor of Aktobe region Kemalov, the director of the Kazakhstan branch "Lukoil Overseas Service" Kirillov, General Director of LLP "Aktobe Kazakhoil" Reshetnev, mayors of Mugalzhar, Bayganin and Temir districts of Aktobe region. During the event, the participants summed up the Arai program in 2011, and spoke of plans and prospects for the current year.
The Arai programme is implemented by Lukoil in two regions of the country - Mangistau (since 2007) and Aktobe (since 2010). The program is designed for rural people and gives them the opportunity to receive non-repayable grants of up to 850,000 tenge for development of business, creativity and craft. Programme's particular significance is in involvement in it of representatives of socially vulnerable segments - mothers of many children, unemployed, disabled persons, oralmans, i.e. those can not receive bank loans. During the period of programme's operation in Mangistau and Aktobe regions around 500 entrepreneurs and small businesses appeared, including clothing shops, bakeries, hairdressers, service stations, cattle farms, fisheries cooperatives, and computer, leisure and sports centers are very popular in the village. The program was awarded by the Presidential Award "Paryz" as the best social project in 2008 and the Prize "Tanym" of the Civil Forum of Kazakhstan (2009). The project is part of Lukoil's voluntary social initiatives, in addition to contractual and tax obligations.
From 2011 by the decision of the akimat of Aktobe region the programme, in addition to Mugalzhar area was extended to Bayganin and Temir and districts of the region. Accepting applications for the contest will run from April 15 to May 15, 2012. In early June, a commission of experts will name the grant recipients of Arai social programme in the current year.
