Azerbaijan, Baku, July 20 /Trend E.Ismayilov/

The monthly amount of chemical product handling through SOCAR's Kulevi oil terminal will reach about 4,000 tons, a SOCAR source told Trend. This process will be possible due to a new complex for transshipment of propylene, which is located in the Kulevi oil terminal.

The source said this figure will be about 50,000 tons every year. "It is expected that the process of handling chemical production will begin next month. Monthly transshipment volume will be at the level of four thousand tons," the source said.

The project of the new complex was prepared by the institute Neftgazelmitedgigatlayihe. The facility includes compressors, transformers, nitric station and pier to supply polypropylene.
Production at the terminal will be loaded directly from rail tank cars to gas tankers.

Kulevi terminal was put into operation in summer 2008. Its total capacity is 10 million tons of oil per year, including 3 million tons of oil, 3 million tons of diesel fuel, and 4 million tons of fuel oil. The terminal can accommodate up to 168 tank cars. The tank farm's total volume is 320,000 cubic meters with the possibility of increasing to 380,000 cubic meters. The port has two berths to load petroleum products in tankers of up to 100,000 tons.
