Kazakh KazMunaiGas Exploration Production slightly decreases oil production

Kazakh National Oil and Gas company KazMunaiGas Exploration Production decreased crude oil production by 1 percent in the first quarter of 2013 compared to the same period of 2012

Kazakh National Oil and Gas company KazMunaiGas Exploration Production decreased crude oil production by 1 percent in the first quarter of 2013 compared to the same period of 2012, the company reported on Tuesday.

The company produced 3.002 million tones of crude oil (247,000 barrels of oil per day), including the Company's stakes in Kazgermunai, CCEL and PetroKazakhstan Inc. in the reporting period.

KazMunaiGas Exploration Production's subsidiary Uzenmunaigas (UMG) produced 1.237 million tones (101,000 barrels of oil per day) in this period, about the same as in the first quarter of 2012.

KazMunaiGas Exploration Production's subsidiary Embamunaigas (EMG) in January-March 2013 produced 691,000 tones (56,000 barrels of oil per day), which is 16,000 tones or 2 percent more compared to the same period of 2012. The total volume of oil produced at UMG and EMG in the first three months of 2013 is 1.927 million tones (158,000 barrels of oil per day), which is 1 percent more compared to the same period of 2012 and in accordance with production plan.

The Company's share in the production from Kazgermunai, CCEL and PetroKazakhstan for the three months of 2013 amounted to 1.074 million tones of crude oil (89,000 barrels of oil per day) which is 44,000 tones or 4 percent less than in the same period of 2012 and in accordance with production plans for these companies.

In the first three months of 2012 the Company's export and domestic sales from the UMG and EMG hit 1.490 million tones (122,000 barrels of oil per day) and 505,000 tones (41,000 barrels of oil per day) respectively.

The Company's share in the sales from Kazgermunai, CCEL and PetroKazakhstan was 1.094 million tones of crude oil (92,000 barrels of oil per day), including 972,000 tones (82,000 barrels of oil per day) or 89 percent supplied to export markets.

KMG EP is among the top three Kazakh oil and gas producers. Overall production in 2012 was 12.2 million tons (an average of 247,000 barrels of oil per day) of crude oil, including the Company's share in Kazgermunai, CCEL and PetroKazakhstan. The total volume of proved and probable reserves, as at the end of 2011 was 226 million tons (1.7 billion barrels), including shares in the associates of about 2.1 billion barrels.
