In January-April 2013, the Aktau International Sea Commercial Port (AISCP) transshipped 2.56 million tons of oil, compared to about 2.5 million tons in the same period of 2012, according to a statement posted on the port's official website.
According to the information, the port handled about 7.6 million tons of oil in 2012 compared to more than 8.03 million tons in 2011.
Some oil transshipped through the Aktau port is transported to Baku, from where it is supplied to the Black Sea Port of Georgia via railway.
In particular, in January-April, 250,000 tons of the total amounts of handled cargo accounted for hardware, 329,000 tons - ferry cargo, 176,000 tons - grain and 174,800 tons - other goods.
In January-April, the port handled 3.51 million tons of cargo, or 11.9 percent higher than the expected volume.
In January-April, the Aktau port received 570 ships.
