Gas fields may be discovered in Azerbaijan in the future, BP Azerbaijan exploration vice president Greg Riley said at the Caspian Oil and Gas 2013 conference in Baku today.
"Discovering such impressive fields as Shah Deniz and Absheron is very important," he said. "But I am sure that new gas fields will be discovered in Azerbaijan in the future."
He also stressed that Azerbaijan has a long history of oil and gas extraction.
"Azerbaijan has recently created an ambitious oil and gas industry," he said. "Oil production in the country exceeded 1 million barrels per day long ago."
"In general, the Caspian basin is promising," he said. "It is only necessary to competently carry out exploration."
