Azerbaijan's state oil company SOCAR has recommissioned a well #340 at the Gunashli offshore field in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea, said SOCAR in a message Oct. 6.

According to the message, the well was put into operation at the platform #10 after being overhauled.

This is already the third well at the platform #10 recommissioned after the fire Dec.4, 2015.

SOCAR will additionally produce 2.92 million cubic meters of gas and 18,980 tons of oil annually through recommissioning of the well.

Gas and condensate are extracted from a wellbore within the range of 2,967-2,935 meters.

The fire broke out on the offshore platform Dec. 4, as a strong storm damaged an underwater high-pressure gas pipeline.

The fire was fully extinguished at 19:24 local time (UTC/GMT +4 hours) Feb. 10.

The Gunashli field plays an important role in Azerbaijan's oil and gas industry. The field's shallow part is developed by SOCAR on its own, while its deep-water part is developed jointly with foreign partners.

Compared to 5.54 million tons of oil produced in January-August 2015, SOCAR produced 5.06 million tons of oil in January-August 2016 from the Azerbaijani fields where the company works independently without participation of foreign companies.

SOCAR produced 8.16 million tons of oil in 2015 compared to 8.32 million tons in 2014. In total, 41.59 million tons of oil was produced in Azerbaijan in 2015, compared to 42.02 million tons in 2014, according to SOCAR.
