Turkmenistan is an energy power with enormous hydrocarbon resources and it also possesses substantial resources and scientific potential to develop alternative energy sources, the Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper said.
The local scientists made progress in developing autonomous solar and wind complexes able to provide remote pastures in desert conditions with water and energy throughout the year, says the article in the newspaper.
Also, another project is carried out on the study of possibilities of producing silicon for photovoltaic cells, which can bring Turkmenistan to the same level with the countries that reached industrial production of industrial silicon.
“In future, it may become an important class of the national export aimed at countries actively developing "green energy,” the newspaper reported.
It was also noted that the state's efforts in development of alternative energy can support Turkmenistan’s growing enterprise by ideas and investments, since "green" energy is regarded as a new promising market.
