Azerbaijan increases gas transportation via main pipelines

In January-September 2018, about 5.79 billion cubic meters of gas were transported through the South Caucasus gas pipeline (Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum) against 5.38 billion cubic meters transported for the same period last year, the report of the State Statistical Committee of Azerbaijan says.

"In January-September, the South Caucasus gas pipeline accounted for 34.4 percent of all gas transported through the main pipelines of the country," the report said.

According to the data of the State Statistical Committee, in January-September, 16.8 billion cubic meters of gas were transported through the main gas pipelines of the country against 16.2 billion cubic meters of gas transported for the same period in 2017.

The Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum pipeline is more than 700 km long. This gas pipeline transports the gas produced at the Shah Deniz gas condensate field in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea. The gas is supplied to Georgia and Turkey.
