Energy worth about $100 billion is consumed annually in Iran, said Ali Mobini Dehkordi, advisor to the Iranian oil minister and head of the Institute for International Energy Studies, Trend reports via Tasnim News Agency.

He said that Iran’s energy policy is intended for 19 years.

This policy should be re-evaluated and it should be defined to what extent it was implemented, he noted.

Dehkordi added that crude oil and gas production in Iran amounts to an average of 9 million barrels and 5.5 million barrels of the amount is used.

There is a loss of energy in Iran, he said.

The world is moving towards the proper use of energy, as well as the use of renewables, he noted. However, unfortunately, attention isn’t paid to this in Iran, he said.

Iran’s energy sector needs modern technologies, he added.
