By Huseyn Hasanov - Trend:

Turkmenistan’s Turkmengeology State Corporation is actively conducting drilling operations at the Goturdepe field located in Turkmenistan’s Balkan deistrict, Trend reports referring to the corporation's statement.

More than 3,100 meters have already been covered at well No. 19 with a design depth of 5,000 meters since the beginning of 2019, the report reads.

The is using modernized equipment from the US, China and Russia, designed for deep drilling.

Similar equipment was used earlier on the Minara site, located in Mary district. Back then, an industrial inflow of natural gas was obtained at an exploratory well with a design depth of 4,750 meters with a daily flow rate of about 1 million cubic meters.

Exploration work has been resumed at producing fields in Turkmenistan aimed at studying hydrocarbon deposits with a depth of up to 7 kilometers.

In particular, 3D seismic surveys were carried out at the Goturdepe field. Promising oil and gas fields are being developed on the right bank of the Amu Darya River, in the Central Karakum, and in the Turkmen sector of the Caspian Sea (along with the sea’s coastal zone).

Overall, about 200 fields have been discovered in Turkmenistan, and hundreds of promising oil and gas structures have been prepared for deep drilling. The study of the oil and gas potential of the pre-Jurassic deposits in the central and northern regions of the country is commencing. Also, a search and exploration of deep-seated resources is underway in southwestern Turkmenistan.
