Electricity generation in Azerbaijan made up almost 1.9 billion kilowatt-hours in May 2020, Trend reports citing the report of the Ministry of Energy.
In the reporting month, Azerbaijan’s electricity export amounted to 21.7 million kilowatt-hours, and import - to 17.5 million kilowatt-hours.
Meanwhile, compared to May 2019, the volume of electricity generation in the country dropped by 17.5 million kilowatt-hours, export - by 2.7 million kilowatt-hours, and import rose by 8.6 million kilowatt-hours.
From January through May 2020, electricity generation increased by 51.1 million kilowatt-hours compared to the same period of 2019 year and exceeded 10.7 billion kilowatt-hours.
In April 2020, Azerbaijan’s electricity import made up 17.7 million kilowatt-hours.
Over the first four months of this year, electricity generation grew by 68.2 million kilowatt-hours compared to the same period of 2019 year and topped 8.8 billion kilowatt-hours.
Power plants in Azerbaijan generated 24.2 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity in 2019, which is 4.3 percent more compared to 2018.
As many as 23.4 billion kilowatt-hours of the total electricity generated in 2019 accounted for commercial consumption, which is 4.6 percent more compared to 2018.
