By Elnur Baghishov – Trend:

There was an increase in the production of all products at the 5th plant of South Pars Gas Company in Bushehr Province (southern Iran) in the last Iranian year (from March 21, 2019 to March 20, 2020), said Mohammad Shafi Moazzeni, head of the 5th South Pars Refinery, Trend reports citing the company’s website.

Moazzeni stressed that ethane production at the 5th plant increased by 3.5 percent in the last Iranian year.

Moazzeni said that last year, the plant's propane production increased by 1.7 percent and butane production by about 1 percent.

The official added that, the 5th processing plant produced 77,000 barrels of gas condensate per day in the last Iranian year.

"Last year, the 5th processing plant produced 145 tons of sulfur per day," he said.

The focus is on increasing production in the current Iranian year (began March 20, 2020) as well, according to Moazzeni.

The South Pars gas field is a joint gas field of Iran and Qatar. The proven reserves of the South Pars Gas Field are estimated at 51 trillion cubic meters of gas, of which 36 trillion are extractable. At present, Iran's daily gas production from the South Pars gas field is more than 700 million cubic meters. Iran has so far spent $33 billion on projects of the South Pars gas field.

Around 75 percent of Iran's gas is supplied by this field.

Gas from Iran's South Pars gas field is transported to refineries in the Pars Special Energy Economic Zone in the port city of Asaluyeh in Iran's southern Bushehr province via a gas pipeline.
