By Klavdiya Romakayeva - Trend:

In Uzbekistan natural gas reserves increased by 13 billion cubic meters, and gas condensate reserves increased by 552,300 tons, Trend reports citing Uzbekneftegaz.

At the beginning of 2020, under the leadership of the Chairman of the Management Board of Uzbekneftegaz, the Program for the Development and Reproduction of the Hydrocarbon Raw Material Base of Uzbekneftegaz JSC for 2020 was developed to conduct exploration work.

The program provides for 3D seismic surveys in the amount of 750 square kilometers, the beginning of prospecting and drilling work on four new areas, 70,000 linear meters of exploratory drilling, completion of the construction of 25 wells and an increase in natural gas reserves by 18 billion cubic meters, as well as gas condensate reserves by 600,000 tons.

Within the Program, from January through September, 3D seismic work in the amount of 570 square kilometers (100 percent) were carried out at the Uchkir and Gazli areas. Construction of 23 wells has been completed (100 percent). Exploration drilling has started in four new areas (100 percent). Prospecting and drilling work was carried out in the amount of 62,632 linear meters (11.8 percent).

As a result of the discovery of new Urtakum and Yuzhny Akkum gas condensate fields, natural gas reserves increased by 13 billion cubic meters (one percent), while gas condensate reserves increased by 552,300 tons (22.7 percent).

By the end of the year, it is planned to carry out 3D seismic work in the amount of 750 square kilometers (100 percent), start exploratory drilling at five new areas (25 percent), conduct exploratory drilling in the amount of 86,300 linear meters (23.3 percent), complete construction of 35 exploration and parametric wells (40 percent)

It is also expected that natural gas reserves will increase to 20 billion cubic meters (+2 billion) (11.1 percent), and gas condensate reserves will increase to 620,000 tons (+20,000) (3.3 percent).
