Annual production volume from Azerbaijan’s Shah Deniz field to increase by 2023

The annual production volume from Azerbaijan’s Shah Deniz field is expected to reach 25.3 billion cubic meters in 2023, Azerbaijani Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov said at the 7th International Energy Forum, Trend reports with reference to the Azerbaijani Energy Ministry.

"The volume of gas projected in Azerbaijan this year at 38 billion cubic meters will reach about 50 billion cubic meters in 2023," Shahbazov said.

"The annual production from the Shah Deniz field, which is the main source of the Southern Gas Corridor, is expected to reach 18.7 billion cubic meters this year while 25.3 billion cubic meters in 2023," the minister said.

So far about 133 billion cubic meters of gas have been extracted from this field, more than 88.6 billion cubic meters of gas have been exported.

Azerbaijan produced 30.5 billion cubic meters of gas from January through October 2020.

This indicator increased by 5.4 percent or 1.6 billion cubic meters of gas from January through October 2020 compared to the corresponding period of last year.

Some 9.7 billion cubic meters of gas were produced from the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli field, 14.7 billion cubic meters from the Shah Deniz field.

About 100 officials of the governments of the participating countries, including ministers, heads of international organizations, and experts attended the forum.
