SOCAR’s STAR Refinery increases oil imports y-o-y

The STAR oil refinery of Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR in Turkey imported 877,55 6tons of crude oil in October 2020 as compared to 853,752 tons in the same period of 2019, Trend reports citing Turkey’s Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK).

The EPDK report shows that STAR refinery produced 577,304 tons and 4,099 tons of diesel fuel and jet fuel, respectively, In addition, during this period, the refinery produced 13,467 tons of intermediate products, 79,012 tons of other products, 19,644 tons of LPG, 133,574 tons of naphtha, 65,112 tons of petroleum coke, 33,685 tons of refinery gas (non-liquid).

Star Refinery, with investment value of $6.3 billion came on stream in October 2018. Around $3.3 billion of the project’s cost was covered by loans. The total investment in Star Refinery is expected to stand at $7 billion.

The annual processing capacity of Star Refinery is 10 million tons. It meets around 25 percent of Turkey’s refined oil products. The refinery is able to process 214,000 barrels of crude oil per day.
