The Agri-Diesel Support Program for farmers of Georgia continues without interruptions, Trend reports via Georgian government.
Farmers are thus getting diesel fuel at a substantially lower price.
Farmers may already benefit from the discount scheme electronically as well and will no longer need to present hard copy documents at filling stations.
Registration for the program and activation of Fuel Discount Cards have started.
Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) has been concluded by the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia with Socar Georgia Petroleum for the supply of discounted fuel to farmers.
The Agri-Diesel Program was successfully implemented in 2020 within the scope of the Anti-Crisis Plan branded as Caring for Village and Farmers towards agriculture. Discounted fuel has benefited 125,000 farmers, saving over 7 million lari ($2.1 million) in total.
Physical and legal entities, who own agricultural land parcels will be able to further benefit from the discounted fuel if and when they have title ownership on at least 0.25 ha agricultural land parcels registered at the National Agency of Public Registry (NAPR), except for pastures; also individuals, who will seek primary registration or validation on agricultural land parcels.
Discount Cards for 150 liters of fuel will benefit eligible farmers per 1 ha, while up to 15,000 liters per 100 ha of agricultural land parcels.
Eligible farmers will be able to purchase diesel fuel from wholesale base stations of Socar Georgia Petroleum 0.20 lari ($6.09) cheaper than a consolidated tender price every month throughout the year, while the discounted price will be 0.16 lari ($4.87) cheaper if purchased fuel from filling stations (89 throughout Georgia).
Discounted diesel fuel will be offered in an uninterrupted manner throughout the country according to the pre-defined schedule of distribution and namely up to 2 000 liters of discounted diesel will be offered to farmers from February 1 through March 31, 2021, while 1,500 litters - from April 1 through April 30, 2021, and the remaining amount of discounted diesel - from May 1 through December 31, 2021.
