Two solar panel stations were launched in the Kerman Province (southeastern Iran) today on May 18, Trend reports citing the Ministry of Energy of Iran.

According to the report, a total of 150 billion rials (about $3.57 million) has been spent on solar panel stations. The solar panel station that launched in the Ravar County of Iran's Kerman Province was installed on an area of 1 hectare. The power generation capacity of this station is 518 kilowatt-hours. The station will generate about 876,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity per year. The private sector has spent 50 billion rials (about $1.19 million) on the station.

“The launch of the solar panel station in the Ravar County will prevent the release of 600 tons of greenhouse gases into the environment annually, reduce 192 liters of water consumption and save 250,000 cubic meters of natural gas. Six people were employed at this station,” the report said.

In addition, one more solar panel station with a generation capacity of 1 megawatt-hour of electricity has been launched in the Ravar County of Kerman Province. The station was installed on an area of 1.77 hectares. The private sector has spent 100 billion rials (about $2.38 million) on the station, the report said.

According to the report, the launch of this solar panel station will prevent the release of 1,200 tons of greenhouse gases into the environment annually, reduce 385 liters of water consumption and save 500,000 cubic meters of natural gas.

At present, the electricity generation capacity of renewable energy power plants created in Iran's Kerman Province is 59.6-megawatt hours.

Reportedly, 10 facilities were launched in Iran’s electricity sector on May 18. In total, 3.36 trillion rials (about $80 million) were spent on these facilities. Iranian Energy Minister Reza Ardakanian and other officials attended the event online format.
