Welding work has been completed on the nearly 160 km section of the Greece-Bulgaria interconnector As of June 15, Bulgarian ICGB AD project company said this week, Trend reports.
“More than 95 kilometers of the pipeline are fully completed. All welding and testing work has been completed on this part of the interconnector. In addition to the main construction work, field teams are engaged in the construction of ground structures, special crossings, insulation, hydro-testing,” the message says.
Also, this week, in accordance with the agreement on the implementation of a project in the field of solar energy in the Zangilan and Jabrayil districts of Azerbaijan, BP announced the need to complete the technical and commercial examination and development of the project.
It also became known that BP has started an additional assessment on the Shafag-Asiman structure in Azerbaijan.
“But it will take some time to complete this work and plan our next steps in the assessment,” BP said.
In addition, this week, it became known that an Energy Efficiency Fund is being created in Azerbaijan.
This issue is reflected in the new draft law ‘On the rational use of energy resources and on energy efficiency.’
Also, this week, Bakhtiyar Aslanbeyli, Vice President of BP for external relations and communications in the Middle East and the Caspian region, said that the main goal of the BP company in Azerbaijan in 2021 is to fulfill the production plan for the Azeri-Chirag-Deepwater Gunashli (ACG) and Shah Deniz fields.
“To date, production from the aforementioned fields is in line with the annual plan. The increase in production at Shah Deniz continues as planned. On December 31, 2020, commercial gas supplies to Europe began after the commissioning of the European part of the Southern Gas Corridor - TAP. Commercial gas exports to Turkey have been going on for several years. We have reached the peak of the planned gas supplies to Turkey,” Aslanbeyli said.
Aslanbeyli also noted that the company plans to drill exploratory wells in the shallow waters of the Absheron Peninsula (SWAP).
“One of the wells is planned to be drilled this summer, and, if time permits, we will be able to drill the second one. As is known, this year we completed the drilling of the first exploration well at the Shafag-Asiman structure. At the moment, the interpretation of the data continues. Along with this, the interpretation of the seismic survey results on the D-230 structure is underway,” he said.
