Iran's Tavanir company intends to supply agricultural wells with solar panel stations

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Aug. 25

The Electric Holding Company of Generation, Transmission & Distribution (TAVANIR) wants to build 3,000 megawatt-hours solar panel stations in order to supply of agricultural wells with electricity, an official of the TAVANIR, Ali Chehel Amirani said, Trend reports citing the company’s website.

According to him, in this regard, discussions are underway with the Iranian Fuel Conservation Company.

Amirani added that there are 100,000 agricultural wells in the country. Diesel fuel is used to extract water from these wells. About 11,000 liters of fuel are used per year for each agricultural well.

The official emphasized that considering environmental protection, assistance to Iran's electricity network, and other issues, the use of renewable energy in agricultural wells may be effective.

“These stations will be built with an investment of private sector and their funds will be provided through fuel savings,” he noted.
