Georgia paid $168.7 million for the import of natural gas (natural gas in a gaseous state) from January through July 2021, Trend reports citing Georgian media.
Compared to the same period last year, the cost of natural gas imports decreased by 6.2 percent.
For 7 months of 2020, the import of natural gas to Georgia cost $180 million.
Georgia reportedly imported $116.1 million worth of natural gas from Azerbaijan in the first seven months of this year, while the purchase of Russian gas cost $52.6 million.
As reported, the amount paid for Russian gas for the 7 months of 2021 has tripled compared to last year. In 2020, Georgia paid just $17 million for Russian gas imports. According to Geostat, in the reporting period last year, Georgia also bought gas from Armenia for $2.8 million.
