Azerbaijan’s proven gas reserves grow by nearly 15%

Azerbaijan’s proven gas reserves grew by 14.8 percent standing at 2.2 trillion standard cubic meters in 2020, as compared to 1.9 trillion standard cubic meters in 2019, Trend reports with reference to OPEC’s Annual Statistical Bulletin.

OPEC estimates that the country’s proved gas reserves amounted to 1.277 trillion standard cubic meters in 2016, then dropping to 1.270 trillion standard cubic meters in 2017, before recovering to 1.435 trillion standard cubic meters in 2018.

Azerbaijan’s marketed gas production grew by 7.7 percent from 20.811 billon standard cubic meters in 2019 to 22.408 billon standard cubic meters in 2020. As for the previous years, this figure stood at 17.500 billon standard cubic meters in 2016, 16.900 billon standard cubic meters in 2017 and 17.800 billon standard cubic meters in 2018.

The country’s natural gas exports fell by 12.4 percent in 2020 standing at 9.900 billon standard cubic meters, as compared to 11.300 billon standard cubic meters in 2019. Azerbaijan exported 7.620 billon standard cubic meters in 2016, 8.030 billon standard cubic meters in 2017, 9.190 billon standard cubic meters in 2018.
