BAKU, Azerbaijan, Oct.28
By Leman Zeynalova – Trend:
Hungary’s gas reservoirs are 86 percent full, well above the EU average, Hungarian embassy in Azerbaijan said in response to Trend’s question about the gas supply security in the country.
“In the last year, gas prices have risen by around 400 percent and electricity prices by around 80-100 percent in Europe, while CO2 quota prices have also risen significantly. Hungary is buying gas at a good price, and the supply is also secured in the long term. As Attila Steiner, state secretary of the innovation and technology ministry, said in Brussels on 8th October, the price of household gas will not be increased in Hungary, we had an ample supply of gas in storage,” the diplomatic mission said in a statement.
Hungary has its gas reservoirs filled up to 86 percent of their total capacity, which is well above the European Union average, reads the statement.
“Hungary has 4 billion cubic metres of gas in storage for market purposes and 1.45 billion cubic metres stored in strategic reserves. Hungary continues to have the lowest residential gas and electricity prices in Europe.”
