Capacity of Kazakhstan's polypropylene integrated complex may be increased

The construction and installation work within the project for construction of an integrated complex in Kazakhstan’s Atyrau region has been completed, Saduokhas Meraliyev, Advisor to the Chairman of the Board of KPI Inc. LLP said, Trend reports citing the Kazakhstan Oil and Gas analytical magazine.

In the future, Kazakhstan Petrochemical Industries (KPI), which operates the project, has an opportunity to increase polypropylene production capacity in stages.

During the first year of operation it is planned to increase polypropylene production up to 508,000 tons per year due to propane purity of 98 percent. In the subsequent years the plan is to increase polypropylene production to 529,000 tons/year by increasing the number of operating hours per year to 8322,” the report said.

From the fourth year of operation there are plans to increase dehydrogenation unit load to 110 percent of design capacity which will allow to produce up to 581,000 tons of polypropylene per year.

The target indicator is production of 587,000 tons of polypropylene per year by increasing the number of operating hours per year to 8,400 at 110 percent load,” the report said.
