Azerbaijan’s Garadagh solar power plant with a design capacity of 230 MW will generate 500 million kilowatt-hours of electricity per year, Director of the State Agency for Renewable Energy Sources Tabriz Ammayev told reporters, Trend reports.
Ammayev made the remark during a media tour to Garadagh district.
According to him, the construction of this power plant will reduce gas consumption by 110 million cubic meters.
"Besides, this will reduce emissions into the environment by 200,000 tons. At the first stage, it’s planned to create nearly 700 jobs at this power plant. Since the plant will be built on the basis of high technologies, about 30 additional jobs can be opened," the agency’s head said.
He also noted that the electricity produced at this solar power plant will be included in the overall energy balance of Azerbaijan.
On March 15, a groundbreaking ceremony was held in Gulustan Palace in Baku for the Garadagh solar power plant to be built in Azerbaijan by the UAE’s Masdar company.
