BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 4. Construction of a new carbamide plant of Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR is on the agenda, director of the existing carbamide plant Khayal Jafarov said, Trend reports with reference to SOCAR.
“It is not possible to increase production volume at the existing plant, since its production capacity is in accordance with the design and no modification will help boost these volumes. Construction of a new carbamide plant has been and is on the agenda. It depends on demand in world markets. Such a decision can be made in the future,” he said.
The groundbreaking ceremony of SOCAR’s carbamide plant was held in 2011. İt was designed and constructed by South Korea’s Samsung Engineering. The plant, which was commissioned in January 2019, is capable of producing 2,000 tons of carbamide per day and 660,000 tons per year. It occupies an area of 40 hectares in Sumgayit Chemical Industrial Park and has ammonia production, carbamide production units and auxiliary facilities.
