BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 25. National Iranian Drilling Company (NIDC) has repaired and relaunched well No. 22 of the Ahvaz oil Field, which is located in the territory of the National Iranian South Oil Company (NISOC), 11 days earlier than planned, an official of the NIDC Komeil Babaei said, Trend reports citing the company’s website.

“Thus, the repairs of the mentioned well were completed in 34 days. However, the repairs were expected to be completed within 45 days,” Babaei noted.

According to him, the well was drilled and repaired with the ‘Fath-52’ drilling rig. All safety rules were observed during the drilling of the well. Some equipment was renewed, also the production capacity of the well was researched. A total of 2,700 meters of excavations were carried out.

The official also added that the ‘Fath-52’ drilling rig was added to the list of drilling rigs of the NIDC in March 2000. So far, 69 oil and gas wells have been drilled via the drilling rig, and in total, more than 65,000 meters of excavations were carried out.

The Ahvaz oil field, which is located in the Ahvaz county of Khuzestan Province (south-western Iran) is considered Iran’s largest oil field.

The field contains more than 65 billion barrels of oil, of which 37 billion barrels can be extracted. Iran extracts 800,000 barrels of oil and 13 million cubic meters of gas per day from the Ahvaz oil field.
