Iran boosts gasoline production

BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 17. Iran's daily gasoline production has increased by 1.13 percent since the beginning of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2022), compared to the same period last Iranian year, Iranian Deputy Oil Minister and the CEO of the National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company (NIORDC) Jalil Salari said at a press conference on August 17, Trend reports citing IRNA.

The deputy minister noted that Iran’s daily gasoline production has reached to 98 million liters for the current year.

“Meanwhile, in the last Iranian year, the figure stood at 96.9 million liters,” he added.

According to Salari, there is also a 3-percent increase was recorded in Iran's diesel production this year. So, if Iran produced 108 million liters of diesel daily over the last Iranian year, the figure has reached 112 million liters daily for the current Iranian year.

“Recently, the consumption of gasoline and diesel in the country has increased by 66 percent. Certain steps should be taken to reduce consumption,” he said.

The CEO emphasized that if the necessary steps are not taken and the current process continues, 1 billion liters of additional fuel will be consumed in the country. This means that a plant with a refining capacity of 150,000 barrels of crude oil per day should be built in the country.
