BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 9. Iran's petrochemical production increased by 7 percent, during the first nine months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through December 21, 2022), compared to the same period last Iranian year, an official of Iran’s National Petrochemical Company (NPC), Bijan Chegeni said, Trend reports citing the company’s website.

During 9 months, a total of 53 million tons of petrochemical products were produced in Iran, according to Chegeni.

He added that Iran's petrochemical production is expected to account for 75 percent of the total production capacity by the end of the current Iranian year (March 20, 2023).

The official also said that during the period when gas consumption is at a high level in the country, various programs for the repair of petrochemical plants are implemented in the country.

At present, Iran's petrochemical production capacity is 90 million tons per year. Iran intends to increase the figure to 200 million tons in the next 10-12 years.
