BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 22. Iran’s Shahid Rajaee Thermal Power Plant in the Qazvin Province (northern Iran) generated more than 10.7 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity, during the first 11 months of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2022, through February 19, 2023), the Director of Shahid Rajaee TPP Abolfazl Mutabha said, Trend reports citing Iranian Energy Ministry.
“Of the mentioned volume, 5.12 billion kilowatt-hours were generated by the combined cycle units of the Shahid Rajee TPP, and 5.6 billion kilowatt-hours - by steam units,” the director said.
Mutabha also pointed out that the Shahid Rajaee TPP generated about 773,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity in the 11th month (January 21 through February 19, 2023) alone.
So, about 329 million kilowatt-hours of electricity were produced by combined cycle units and about 444 million kilowatt-hours - by steam units in the 11th month, he added.
Meanwhile, the Shahid Rajaee Thermal Power Plant has 13 units. Four of them are steam units each generation capacity of 250 megawatt-hours, and the rest are combined-cycle units. In total, the TPP can generate 2,040 megawatts of electricity.
At present, there are 134 thermal power plants operating in Iran. So far, 612 power units have been installed in the mentioned power plants. The power generation capacity of Iran’s TPPs is currently 73,695 megawatt-hours.
