BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 24. Iran's petrochemical production capacity is expected to increase by 3 million tons by the end of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2023 through March 19, 2024), CEO of National Petrochemical Company (NPC), Morteza Shah-Mirzaei said told reporters at a press conference in Tehran on April 24, Trend reports citing IRNA.

Shah-Mirzadei noted that currently, Iran's annual petrochemical production capacity is 92 million tons. By the end of the current year, this figure is estimated to reach 95 million tons.

The CEO added that 10 new petrochemical plants are planned to be put into operation in the country for the current year.

According to him, at present, Iran produces 550 types of various petrochemical products with 70 petrochemical complexes.

Meanwhile, about 65 million tons of various petrochemical products were produced in Iran over the last Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023).

In total, Iran's sales of petrochemical products amounted to 39 million tons worth a total of $26 billion within the last year. Of that, 12 million tons worth $10 billion were sold within the country, while 27 million tons worth $16 billion were exported from the country.
