BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 30. Petroleum Coke production at SOCAR Türkiye’s STAR oil refinery grew by 17.5 percent year-on-year in April 2023, Trend reports.
Turkish Energy Markets Regulatory Authority (EPDK) estimate that the refinery produced 79,249 tons of petroleum coke in April this year, as compared to 67,423 tons in the same period in 2022.
SOCAR Türkiye has set a target to process more than 12 million tons of oil at its STAR Refinery in 2023. The refinery utilizes crude oil from various sources, including the countries in the Black Sea region, Africa, and others, in the production of petrochemical products.
The STAR Refinery has an annual processing capacity of 10 million tons, which accounts for approximately 25 percent of Türkiye's refined oil products. It is capable of processing 214,000 barrels of crude oil per day.
Having commenced operations in October 2018, the STAR Refinery represents a significant investment valued at $6.3 billion. Approximately $3.3 billion of the project's total cost was financed through loans.
