BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 4. Iran's petrochemical production capacity is estimated to increase by 43 percent by March 20, 2027, Trend reports.
Iran's Oil Ministry plans to increase the country's annual petrochemical production capacity to approximately 132 million tons by the mentioned date.
Currently, Iran has capacity to produce 92 million tons of petrochemical products per year.
Also, Iran's production capacity of propylene and related products is estimated to increase to 11.6 million tons per year until March 20, 2027. At present, Iran’s annual production capacity of propylene and related products is about 1 million tons.
By March 20, 2027, Iran’s production capacity of ethylene and related products is estimated to increase to 11.9 million tons, as well as aromatic products to 3 million tons per year.
Meanwhile, circa 65 million tons of various petrochemical products were produced in Iran over the last Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023).
In total, Iran's sales of petrochemical products amounted to 39 million tons worth a total of $26 billion within the last year. Of that, 12 million tons worth $10 billion were sold within the country, while 27 million tons worth $16 billion were exported from the country.
