Russia announces planned electricity exports to Azerbaijan up to 2029

BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 4. Electricity exports from Russia to Azerbaijan are planned to amount to 300 million kWh annually from 2024 through 2029, Trend reports.

According to the "Scheme and Program for Development of Electric Power Systems of Russia for 2024-2029", the Russian Federation as a whole plans to export 10 billion kWh of electricity annually.

Azerbaijan produced 16 billion kWh of electricity from January through July 2023, which is 45 million kWh or 0.3 percent more year-on-year. Electricity exports from Azerbaijan totaled 1 billion kWh from January through July 2023, which is 239 million kWh, or 23 percent more year-on-year.

Meanwhile, Russia's exports of electricity until 2029 are as follows: supplies to Mongolia are planned at about 700 million kWh annually, to Belarus - 30 million kWh, to Georgia - 1 million kWh. As for Kazakhstan, the total volume of supplies will amount to 3 billion kWh from 2024 through 2029.

During this period, it is expected to export power and electric energy to the People's Republic of China in the amount of 4 billion kWh.
