BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 7. Iran currently consumes an average of 739 million cubic meters of gas per day, Manager of the Dispatching Department of the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) Saeed Aghli said, Trend reports.
“Thus, 331 million cubic meters of gas are consumed daily by residential building and commercial and small industrial facilities, 165 million cubic meters in large industrial facilities, and 243 million cubic meters in thermal power plants,” he added.
The official added that in addition, Iran exports an average of 38 million cubic meters of gas per day.
“Taking into account that winter is approaching, it is planned to take steps to regulate gas consumption in the country. The population is also expected to save on gas consumption at an appropriate level,” the official also pointed out.
Iran stands second in the world for gas reserves, with about 34 trillion cubic meters of gas. The country’s gas production capacity is reportedly more than 1 billion cubic meters.
On average, Iran currently produces about 259 billion cubic meters of gas annually and more than 800 million cubic meters daily.
