Iran boosts iron ore pellet output

BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 2. Iran’s iron ore pellet production grew by 10 percent for the first seven months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through October 22, 2023), compared to the same period last year, Trend reports.

According to data from the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO), the mentioned 9 companies produced over 23.6 million tons of iron ore pellets in 7 months, whereas the production was around 21.6 million tons in the same period last Iranian year.

Here is the list of the companies and their production in 7 months this year:

- Golgohar Mining and Industrial Company: 6.94 million tons;

- Middle East Mines and Minerals Industries Development Holding Company (MIDHCO): 3.09 million tons;

- Gohar Zamin Iron Ore Company: 2.94 million tons;

-Sangan Mining Industries Company: 2.75 million tons;

- Central Iron Ore Company of Iran: 2.44 million tons;

- Chadormalu Mining and Industrial Company: 2.28 million tons;

- Opal Parsian Sangan Industrial and Mining Company: 1.9 million tons;

- Sanabad Inclusive Development Industrial and Mining Company: 1.02 million tons;

- Sabanour Mining and Industrial Development Company: 253,000 tons.

The nine companies also sent about 17.6 million tons of iron ore pellets to local companies in seven months, which is a 78.6 percent increase from 9.85 million tons in the same period last year.

The report says that the steel industry is one of the key sectors for Iran’s non-oil production and exports. Iran aims to become a global leader in steel manufacturing by increasing its output in this field.
