BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 29. In October 2023, the STAR oil refinery, operated by the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) in Türkiye, experienced a notable increase in crude oil supplies, Trend reports.

The data from Turkish Energy Markets Regulatory Authority (EPDK) reveals that the refinery received 891,870 tons of oil during this period, marking an 8.5 percent rise compared to the 821,843 tons delivered in the same month of 2022.

As outlined in the EPDK report, the STAR refinery engaged in the production of various petroleum products during this timeframe. This included approximately 582,151 tons of diesel fuel, 128,621 tons of aviation fuel, 132,684 tons of other products, 14,310 tons of liquefied petroleum gas, 122,742 tons of naphtha, 75,471 tons of petroleum coke, 42,398 tons of gas, and 13,948 tons of high-sulfur diesel fuel.

The STAR oil refinery, commissioned in October 2018 with an investment value of $6.3 billion, saw an increase in oil supplies, contributing to its significant role in the region. Approximately $3.3 billion of the project's cost was financed through loans, and the total investment in the STAR refinery is anticipated to reach $7 billion. With an annual refining capacity of about 10 million tons, the plant has the capability to process 214 thousand barrels of crude oil per day.
