BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 30. The STAR oil refinery of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) in Türkiye received 931,834 tons of oil in March 2024, according to the Energy Market Regulatory Authority of Türkiye (EPDK), Trend reports.
This marks almost 9.9 percent decrease in oil supplies to the refinery compared to 1.034 million tons delivered during the same period in 2023.
This is while from January through March 2024, the refinery imported more than 2,7 million tons of oil.
According to the EPDK report, during this period, the plant produced various petroleum products, including about 625,052 tons of diesel fuel, almost 9,209 tons of biodiesel containing diesel fuel, 37,804 tons of aviation fuel, 11,624 tons of other products, 14,068 tons of liquified petroleum gas (LPG), 152,223 tons of naphtha, 66,175 tons of petcoke and 43,670 tons of refinery gas.
The STAR oil refinery, with an investment cost of $6.3 billion, commenced operations in October 2018, with $3.3 billion of the project's expenses financed through loans. The total investment in the STAR refinery is expected to reach $7 billion.
Featuring an annual refining capacity of about 10 million tons, the plant is capable of processing 214,000 barrels of crude oil per day.
